Another strong weekend ahead. The first weekend in October is now officially a blockbuster date following Gravity in 2013 and Gone Girl last year. The Martian has (inter?)stellar reviews and Damon in this type of film is a big draw. Hotel Transylvania 2 now holds the September weekend record. Sicario has been killing it in limited but will slow down a bit with its expansion. Lionsgate has done very well before, so maybe I'm underestimating it's appeal to a broader audience. The marketing has been very sleek. The Walk opens in IMAX only, but I doubt it does as well as Everest did. Everest kind of stalled in its expansion, whereas I think The Walk might play better in regular theaters.
