An exciting weekend ahead! Some people are going much bigger on Maze Runner, but I'm not feeling the buzz. (Famous last words!) It'll do fine, but I'm baffled by these $50m predictions for it. Black Mass has great marketing by WB and it's been very aggressive. It could be the #1 film if I'm correct about Maze. Everest is doing a 500+ IMAX only run before expanding to regular theaters next weekend. Captive opens in just under a thousand theaters and I had to watch the trailer after not seeing any television ads whatsoever. Grandma is also getting a big expansion to probably around a thousand locations so it could make the top 10. A successful run would be a nice boost to Tomlin's Oscar campaign. Sicario opens in 6 locations, before expanding to top markets next weekend and wide on the 2nd.
