Alien: Covenant arrives with a slick ad campaign hoping to make audiences reminiscent of the franchise's glory days and not Prometheus. It should do fine. Everything, Everything could be a small sleeper if the audience shows up. The Wimpy Kid franchise seems to be over, as the last one opened 5 years ago. They were actually solid little performers, but this gap is too big. King Arthur bombed as expected, while Snatched benefited from Mother's Day. May overall seems very light. Looking back, it really helps if an animated film opens this month. This weekend could have used one, as I'm not sure how well next week's openers will fare.
