Well, hey, the summer might end strong after all?  Guardians dominated last weekend, and assuming it has typical August legs will end up the highest grossing film of the summer.  It's boasted some strong weekdays so far, and should be able to surpass Captain America 2 and The Lego Movie to become the highest grossing film of the year thus far.  Hooray!  Its over-performance might mean a dent in this week's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  TMNT always felt like a real wildcard for the summer.  With a dearth in family friendly movies, they probably should have shot for a PG-rating.  Into the Storm is apparently terrible (I can't tell if the film is supposed to be found footage or not?) but some impressive trailers might create mild interest.  The Step Up movies - ugh, these just won't go away will they?  Doing some quick research, it turns out this is the fifth one and not the fourth like I first thought.  The last two did nothing worth noting, but I guess they are very cheap to make.  Hundred Foot Journey could be the late summer sleeper for the geezer set, considering Get On Up under-performed.  Outside the top 10, The Purge: Anarchy has officially surpassed The Purge.  Very impressive given the negative reaction from the first.  Boyhood keeps plugging along, and will likely end up in wide release possibly next weekend or the week after.

Saw Guardians, was much better than I thought it'd be. You should also do a write up for Dear White People. Looks interesting.

omg, someone commented on my blog! Thanks Dan. The trailer for Dear White People was intriguing, and it had mostly positive notices from Sundance I think, though I'm not certain when it comes out.
