Elysium probably would do a lot better if audiences hadn't so clearly shown fatigue toward action/sci-fi extravaganzas this summer.  Might help if its reviews matched District 9's, too.  The film's performance is now resting almost entirely on the strength of its star power.  We're the Millers might have the exact opposite effect as most comedies this year have done pretty well.  Planes is the last animated movie of the summer and will have the typical late summer family film legs.  Percy Jackson, well, I don't even know what the actual title is and didn't feel like looking it up.  That film is more about its international gross.  Taking a look at the domestic performance of the first film, you'd never think a sequel was needed.  Blue Jasmine did massive business again last weekend.  I have no idea how many theaters its going to this weekend (I'm guessing 100+), but it looks like its run will be closer to Midnight In Paris than To Rome With Love.  Awesome!  Fruitvale Station will end up with about $20m, good considering the budget.  I guess people thought the subject matter was just too depressing for the film to really break out.  Smurfs 2, thankfully, disappointed last weekend while 2 Guns debuted where expected.
