Box: Arrrrrrrren't we done with this Pirate shit?
1. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - $92m / $92m / $260m
2. Bridesmaids - $18m / $56.5m / $110m
3. Thor - $17m / $147.5m / $190m
4. Fast Five - $10.5m / $186.5m / $212
5. Priest - $7m / $26.5m / $39m
6. Rio - $5.5m / $132.5m / $144m
7. Jumping the Broom - $4.5m / $32m / $42m
8. Something Borrowed - $3.5m / $31.5m / $39m
9. Water For Elephants - $2.5m / $53m / $58m
10. Soul Surfer - $1.3m / $41m / $45m
Pirates opens - yawn. The question is whether or not the bad taste from the last 2 sequels will have much of an effect. This seems like the movie that 3D could help. It could open north of $100m, but I think just below is where it will settle. Hopefully, the story will be those Bridesmaids and their sexy legs. Its weekday numbers have been incredible, and there's a slim chance it'll have a second weekend that is $20m+.

Box: The BRIDESMAIDS Oscar Campaign Starts Now
1. Thor - $31.5m / $117m / $190m
2. Bridesmaids - $18m / $18m / $70m
3. Priest - $17m / $17m / $40m
4. Fast Five - $15m / $164.5m / $200m
5. Jumping the Broom - $8.5m / $27.5m / $48m
6. Something Borrowed - $7m / $25.5m / $40m
7. Rio - $5.5m / $122.5m / $136m
8. Water For Elephants - $3.5m / $48m / $56m
9. Madea's Big Happy Family - $2m / $50m / $55m
10. Soul Surfer - $1.4m / $39m / $43m
I expected Bridesmaids to open higher - and it very well could - but the better than expected performances of last week's wedding movies may put a slight dent in it. Nevertheless, with some of the best reviews of any mainstream movie this year, it'll be less about the opening and more about the legs. As for Priest, that could go anywhere from $5m to $25m. It seems like the type of film that the 3D will hurt more than help (see My Soul to Take, Drive Angry).

2. Fast Five - $35m / $144m / $215m
3. Something Borrowed - $13m / $13m / $38m
4. Jumping the Broom - $10m / $10m / $29m
5. Rio - $9m / $116m / $145m

10. Soul Surfer - $2m / $36.5m / $41m
Summer is here! Fun box office! Yah! Thor is earning pretty good reviews and will play like a mini-Iron Man, exposing Chris Hemsworth's sexy bulky legs. Fast Five's performance is ridiculous, and will ensure me scratching my head in two years over Furious Six's performance. Jumping the Broom will be hurt by the fact that it seems no movies for black audiences succeed unless Tyler Perry had something to do with them. Lastly, Something Borrowed. Oh god. Can I just say that this looks like the biggest piece of shit to hit theatres in ages? The trailer was the laziest, most bland looking pile. That title is way too appropriate. Apparently the movie is as terrible as it looks. Poor John Krasinski. Ugh - this movie is making me mad. Thank god for Bridesmaids next week.
