Be checking in and every now and then during the show!
And here we go....
Fun opening. Glad Kate at least has a sense of humor about herself. But I'd guess she has to. Who was the young girl in the music group? Was that Alison Brie? I'm not sure. Ugh, Jon and Joel are haute. Its great watching these in HD, but this sound system is awful. Eek.
+YES STONESTREET WON! Wow, Jesse was really crying. Eric forgot Sofia. I'm glad he won though. He's fantastic on MF.
+Steve's speech for MF was funny.
+Ah, JANE!
+This is predictable so far. Wow, you can really hear when they pipe in the laugh track. Eeek.
+These ads for Oprah's final season are oddly moving?
+Jim Parsons looks like a wax version of himself.
+Ok, that Modern Family bit should have been the opening. Freagin hysterical! Sofia Vergara in 3D would be eye gougin.
+Parsons for Actor and Glee won directing. Yep, nailed all these so far.
+All the presenter banter has been awful. John Hodgeman however has been great.
+Edie Falco wins. LOL @ Toni Collette's "of course." So bitchy.
+Yeah, REALITY. Bathroom break.
+Will Arnett, why can't you host this? Keri Russell looked pretty yet underdressed. Her shoes were killer though.
+Julianna Margulies "I'd cried when I found out you were going to host" was hilarious.
+Mariska looks amazing, as usual.
+Mad Men takes writing. Called it. Duh
+OOH Aaron Paul wins supporting. Nice. He was in Last House on the Left remake.
+Nathan Fillion IS straight off the meat rack.
+LOL Archie Panjabi - nice surprise. Hodgeman strikes again - "East was actually west." LMFAO.
+Cranston threepeats. So this means assuming Julianna wins, supporting & leading in drama will be for the same shows. Cool.
+Cute Community ad!
+I can't believe Ann Margaret won for that SVU ep. Eeek.
+Dexter wins directing! Surprise. Comedy was easy. Drama is hard?
+Fallon's salute to TV shows that ended is probably his best bit so far.
+LOL Tina Fey "they are terrifying."
+EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW KYRA!!! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
+WTF EWWW AGAIN.
+RAH RAH AH AH AH ROMA ROMA MA GA GA OOH LA LA
+Glad The Tony's beat the worst Oscars ever. Using that Christoph Waltz joke was smart, well not really. It was the only really funny part of the Oscars.
+OMG I love you Ricky Gervais. "Mel Gibson's been through a lot. Not as much as the Jews" LOLOL @ Toni Collette and Anna Paquin's reactions. I think Ricky was better in those few minutes than he was at the Globes.
+Poehler got a beer.
+OMG STEPHEN COLBERT WANTS TO HUMAN CENTIPEDE HIS CREW. HOLY SHITBALLS. I can't believe they just did that on television.
+They are holding off the True Blood hotness.
+George Clooney wins the Bob Hope Award. Yeah.
+OMG JULIA ORMOND???? That's awesome, glad to see her again. "Eminated for a Nommy." That's probably the best speech that someone could give while reading from a piece of paper.
+Damn, Claire Danes looks amazing.
+Jewel's song is pretty.
+RIP Luanne Platter
+So Jason Sudeikis is dating January Jones. What's with Mad Men/ Saturday Night Live relationships? What could he have seen in January? She was the worst host SNL ever had? Look at me, Jason! Damn it!
+Claire wins.
+Oh god Joan Allen still looks like Jigsaw. Eeeeek. Not as scary as Kyra Sedgwick winning.
+the True Blood cast! I really don't think Alexander is that hot. Good-looking yes, but his head is kinda tiny. Stephen is more my type even if he's shorter.
+AL PACINO!
+Damn it, Tom Hanks quit producing war movies for HBO.
+Damn it, Temple Grandin producer lady buy a bra.
+OMG THEY ARE PRESENTING DRAMA BEFORE COMEDY??????? That's unusual.
+MAD MEN TAKES IT.
+I guess they really wanted the Gleeks to stay tuned till the end when Modern Family wins.......
+AND IT DOES!
Good night!

Emmy Red Carpet Live Random Thoughts!
Watching E!
The only thing I'll watch on this network that isn't Chelsea Lately or The Soup.
Looking forward to seeing Anna Paquin, Julianna Margulies, January Jones and Lea Michelle.
AND EMILY BLUNT WILL BE THERE!
+Modern Family's Sarah Hyeland looks cute as a button. Can't believe she's 20?
+I'm not sure if I just spotted Anne Hathaway? She did just win last week for guest voicing on The Simpsons.
+Jane Lynch looked lovely and is effortlessly charming.
+E!'s Guilliana is wearing a shiny gorg dress. But she always has that tennis hair! Stop that girl!
+Ugh, the cast of the Jersey Shore. Really? We have to have them there even via satellite???
+LOL the timing is so off on this interview with these losers. Remember when people from Jersey were thought to be huge losers? Now we look up to them??? Yeah, so they really are borderline retarded.
+Eww. Ty Burrell's wife's dress is fugly. It looks like a cat toy. Ty's a cutie though. Too bad he was sandwiched between shots of the Jersey Shore cast and whichever Kardashian that was.
+Yeah, KATHY GRIFFIN. I HOPE SHE TELLS SEACREST TO EAT SHIT.
+Joel McHale - yum yum.
+Kathy Griffin looks nice and relaxed, very pretty. Same for Jayma Mays.
+Kevin McHale is definitely not Joel's brother given his height. He was adorkable.
+True Blood's Rutina Welsey looked amazing. Loved that dress.
+Don't like Emily Deschanel's bangs. At all.
+The Seacrest-Griffin moment was amazing. Maggie's written statement. PERFECTION. Yes, Kathy! BASH THE FUCK OUT OF PARIS HILTON.
+Mark Salling......I need to change pants now. He's a stud if there ever was one.
+Great - Kim Kardashian. There goes my erection. I love how fast Salling ran away from her. Like, he's on a legitimate show and has actual talent. You don't, Kardashian. That goes for ANY Kardashian. Haha, she thinks she's an actual producer.
+LEA MICHELLE! Haha. It took all her acting ability to say she was a fan of Kardashian. Lea looks amazing. I'll just focus on actual talent like Lea. Her bangs look awesome there.
+All the fashions are kinda predictable so far. Everyone looks pretty, but clearly playing it safe.
+Wait. Lea just said Cory will be the golden bikini in the Rocky Horror Picture Show episode. God, even though you gave us the Kardashians, you also gave us that. THANK YOU!
+Claire Danes is apparently now in her 40's. Pretty dress. SPARKLY.
+LOL Nigel asking Claire to be a judge on Ameican Idol. She couldn't get away from his faster.
+SOFIA VERGARA. Ugh, I'd hit it. Hard.
+Eva Longoria's dress is by Robert Rodriguez? Even Eva looks tame.
+Amber Riley is wearing the exact same dress Jennifer Hudson wore to the Oscars a few years ago.
+Not sure about the line going down Sofia's dress.
+Jon Hamm's hair is douchebaggy.
+LOL Ricky Gervais just said his wife is wearing Wal-Mart.
+UGH KATE GOSELIN. WTF? REALLY? Ugh Ugh Ugh.
+It must be said everytime Christina Hendricks enters - JESUS.
+Ryan Murphy - Cory is hot, but I'd rather have Mark Salling wearing the mankini for the RPH ep.
+January Jones is sort of a fashion goddess. I really love her dress. Ryan just asked her "how's it saying so stiff?" Where's Michael Scott when you need him?
+Poor Tina Fey having to come after January Jones.
+Tina just said she'll be a triple loser.
+Hahah. Ryan just alluded to Christina Hendricks', umm.... ssets.
+OMG ANNA PAQUIN IS NEXT. PLEASE MENTION SCREAM 4!!!!!
+They cut to Ross Matthews with Julie Benz, who has the tennis hair. LADIES STOP WITH THE TENNIS HAIR!
+Heather Morris - BRITNEY FROM GLEE IS IN THE HOUSE. "Did you know dolphins are just gay sharks?"
+I'm sorta loving these Zoe Saldana Calvin Klein ads.
+Anna and Stephen Moyer were so much fun. "I'm covering his bits!" Ah, newlyweds. She did not mention Scream 4, though. :-( She looked terrific.
+Jesus HEIDI KLUM'S DRESS. Her hair looks amazing. Way to go with that updo rather tennis hair.
+LOL RICO RODRIGUEZ. OMG he really should have been nominated for Modern Family.
+Matthew Morrison - yum.
+NPH!
+Ewwww Sedgwick. Go away please.
+Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are so damn fun. Amy is rocking the post pregnancy boobs.
+Julia Louis-Dreyfus looks good, pretty earrings.
+Ewww, Julianna Margulies does not look good. This should be her night, but not with that look.
+Hope Davis looks amazing.
+Ok, I switched to NBC.
+This is the first award show I've ever seen in HD and I actually think everyone looks better. You can see a little sweat, but everyone looks great.
+Aww, that moment with Matthew Morrison and his old high school was so sweet.
+Wanda Sykes looks great and is hilarious.
+Julie Bowen has the laziest hair of the night. Maybe this HD isn't so great.
+Maura Tierney looks fantastic. I'm so glad to see her again and happy she's doing ok. And the short hair really suits her.
+JOHN KRAS!!!! Where's EMILY? Oh, she's in the back. LOL John just said Emily Blunt is the new boss on The Office. That would actually be fucking bananas.
+Diana (QUINN FROM GLEE) looks pretty. But I always think she could look better. She's such a pretty girl. THOUGH SHE HAS ONE OF THOSE MADONNA/GWYNETH ACCENTS???
+Rose Byrne apparently came from the 1980's.
+Dexter and Emily Rose are a hot couple.
the show will start in a few minutes and I'll probably occasionally check in during commercial breaks
early best dressed: Lea Michelle & January Jones

GO MODERN FAMILY! GO JANE LYNCH! GO AMY POEHLER!
Emmy Dix!
I don't care much about the drama categories so I'll just do "Will Win"'s for them.
DRAMA:
Series: Mad Men
Actor: Michael C. Hall - Dexter
Actress: Julianna Margulies - The Good Wife
Supp. Actor: Terry O'Quinn - Lost
Supp. Actress: Christina Hendricks - Mad Men
Writing: Mad Men - Guy Walks Into An Advertising Agency
Directing: Lost - The End
I think the buzz for Lost died 2 months ago, though they'll give it at least one of the big awards. I'm confident in Julianna taking lead actress, less confident about Hall. Supporting - I have no idea. Most experts really have no idea with those categories, as the Emmys are the most random of all awards bodies. When you think you have them pegged and they'll do the right thing, they fallback on the most mundane of winners.
COMEDY:
Series -
WILL WIN: Modern Family
SHOULD WIN: Modern Family
SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED (AND WON): Parks and Recreation
Expect Modern Family to just barely survive the Glee hype machine. Despite the musical series having higher highs, it also unfortunately had lower lows. So I'd happily vote for the other freshman series, which had some of the biggest laugh-out-loud moments since Arrested Development. Columbia/Brown, anyone?
Actor -
WILL WIN: Jim Parsons - The Big Bang Theory
SHOULD WIN: Steve Carell - The Office
Honestly, I could care less about this. Baldwin is been there, done that. I think Parsons is great in what I've seen of the show. Its just ridiculous Steve has yet to win. I guess they are saving it for next year, his last.
Actress -
WILL WIN: Edie Falco - Nurse Jackie
SHOULD WIN: Amy Poehler - Parks and Recreation
SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED: Courteney Cox - Cougar Town; Portia De Rossi - Better Off Ted
All of these women are terrific. Tina, Julia and Toni have already won. Toni could repeat, easily. I'm expecting Falco because she's a veteran and the show was liked enough to get into series. Lea is a deserving nominee but will sit the night out. Nothing would make me happier than a Poehler upset. That she wasn't recognized earlier in the year by the Globes or the SAGs is a disgrace!
Supporting Actor -
WILL WIN: Neil Patrick Harris - How I Met Your Mother
SHOULD WIN: Eric Stonestreet - Modern Family
SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATION: Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman or Chris Pratt - Parks and Recreation; Ed O'Neill - Modern Family (the only "parent" of the cast that didn't get nominated)
This is a lot like the drama supporting categories. Jesse is the only one I can't see winning. Obviously they weren't going to give Charlie or Two and a Half Men nominations cause that would be shameful. Maybe they'll allow Cryer to repeat. That's assuming they didn't see the reactions of the crowd when he won last year. Assume the Modern Family guys cancel each other out, and that allows award show staple Harris to finally win. I hope he gives a shout-out to his fellow gays.
Supporting Actress -
WILL WIN: Jane Lynch - Glee
SHOULD WIN: Jane Lynch - Glee
SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOMINATED: Busy Phillips - Cougar Town; Aubrey Plaza - Parks and Recreation
Given it is the Emmys, any sure thing is never a sure thing. But Lynch seems in. Really - given she's in every sketch, shouldn't Kristen Wiig be considered lead? I expect Julie and Sofia will cancel each other out, though both are deserving future winners.
Directing -
WILL WIN: Glee - Pilot
SHOULD WIN: Glee - Pilot
Sorta like Desperate Housewives' freshman year, Glee will take an acting category and directing. The Pilot is easy the best way to reward the series.
Writing -
WILL WIN: Modern Family - Pilot
SHOULD WIN: Modern Family - Pilot
Easily the best here, though I'm surprised several of the show's other episodes didn't get in, too. Weird that 30 Rock still got multiple noms here.
As always...
RED CARPET WOOHOO OMFG!
I plan on posting as these are happening tomorrow night. So the three of you reading should be very excited.

3. The Expendables - $9.5m / $82.5m / $112m

7. Nanny McPhee Returns - $6m / $19m / $36m
8. Inception - $5.5m / $271m / $285m
9. Lottery Ticket - $5.5m / $19.5m / $32m
10. The Switch - $4.5m / $16.5m / $26m
**Avatar - $3.5m
I'm going on the low end with my Avatar prediction as most of these re-releases never really amount to much. I feel like its only being brought back to remind people that its the highest grossing movie ever. If people forgot about the movie this much only 8 months after its release, how are people going to feel about it 5 years from now?

Sookie Stackhouse/Rogue & Veronica Mars/Sarah Marshall to get Barrymore'd in Scream 4?

Dimension Films has confirmed that Oscar-winner (the first for the franchise!) Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell have joined the rather large cast of Scream 4. Given this announcement along with what is known about the script and the timeline of the production, all points lead to the two being the "opening death cameo". In what was revealed of the screenplay, there are two female characters named Patty and Marnie in the script's opening pages. The only problem might be that these were supposed to be high school age. While Bell and Paquin aren't quite grandmothers, they won't exactly fit in the age range of fellow cast members Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere. Maybe they changed them to grad students. Either way...
This has me very very very pleased.
Bell previously appeared in Dimension's awful Pulse remake, and Paquin has had her fair share of genre affiliation: Dimension's awful Darkness, the wonderful Trick'r'Treat, a cameo in her brother's film Open House and of course her work on HBO's deliriously sexy vampire series True Blood.
And again, the cast they've assembled for this entry is better than I ever could have imagined. Great work guys!
'The Walking Dead' trailer
I'm looking forward to this more than any other movie coming out for the rest of the year. Anyone that knows me well knows how much I love zombies. Don't know if it is smart to debut this Halloween night, as I thought it was going to debut earlier in October. That might make the ratings massively frontloaded, but I feel based on the anticipation I've seen online that AMC will have a big hit on their hands. I was not expecting it to borrow some plot from 28 Days Later, though I'm uncertain if that stems from the source material.
But whatever. This looks just about perfect.

Summer BO: Parodies Suck
1. Piranha 3D - $19m / $19m / $42m
2. Vampires Suck - $17m / $21m / $44m
3. The Expendables - $16.5m / $66m / $100m
4. Eat Pray Love - $12.5m / $48m / $82m
5. Lottery Ticket - $11m / $11m / $32m
6. Nanny McPhee Returns - $10m / $10m / $34m
7. The Other Guys - $9m / $87.5m / $112m
8. The Switch - $7m / $7m / $20m
9. Inception - $6.5m / $261m / $280m
10. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - $5m / $21m / $32m
Ugh @ Vampires Suck. It's too bad there isn't a parody of Twilight that actually gives the series and its fans just what they deserve. Instead, we'll be given a movie where people will get hit in the head by random objects or have stuff dropped on them. Perhaps the most annoying aspect of these strings of "parodies" are how they have to point out to the audience just what it is being spoofed. Por ejemplo - "Hey, there's Alice!" "Look, it's Juno and a piano dropped on her head." "Oh no! GI Joe is GAY." "That couple is on a DATE NIGHT and they just fell down a hole." "OMG Iron Man is getting gangraped by Robin Hood, Shrek and the Prince of Persia." Then, the gag ends, and they move on to the next set piece. It's pretty bad when we long for Scary Movie 4.
I really want to see Piranha 3D. Go Elisabeth Shue!

Summer BOX: Julia Roberts Vs. The Should-Be-Too-Old-For-This-Shit Action Stars
Oddly enough, Eat Pray Love has some kind of review embargo, so there won't be any reviews till Friday. Not a good sign. But the internet fanboys have already shown their nasty side: they are looking forward to The Expendables but say Julia is now too old to star in a romcom? WTF. I guess she doesn't have enough steroids (outside of her head, anyways) to win them over. Anyways, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World has the year's coolest cast and looks like a ton of fun. So of course it'll probably bomb.

A pretty dull weekend if you ask me. And you did, so I told you! Tracking and most other predix have Other Guys in the high 30's and Step Up in the mid to high teens. I'm going softer on Other Guys because the movie looks so bleh to me and higher on Step Up because I think the morons who liked the first 2 will want to see the third installment in 3D!!! 3D!!! And these dumbass dance movies have a way of surprising. I'd also like to point out Step Up 3D is by the same guy who produced this year's Oscar telecast. Further proof he should never be invited back. Next week looks much more promosing with Julia, Michael Cera and all the action guys. Till then...
